Sweet Chocolate Soul from Nuwamba, a long-awaited album from the Texas scene, and a set that's extremely well put together!! Nuwamba's got a vibe that's laidback, but also incredibly tight, with a perfect balance of mellow and soulful, all hung together with a strength that takes us back to the first time we heard D'Angelo!! But Nuwamba's also a lot more restrained than D, never trying too hard to put over a tune, and instead just letting his voice slide along with the keys and rich arrangements that grace the set. A great album that grabbed us from the very first note!!
